ARES Shipyard Announces New Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

ARES Shipyard of Turkey has recently announced the appointment of Utku Alanc as the company’s new CEO as of January 2019, within the scope of company’s corporate restructuring and organization process. Alanc had been working as the Deputy General Manager since April 2016.

Utku Alanc has considerable experience in Business Development, Integrated Logistics Support and Contract Management, having undertaken various roles within his 18-year career. After beginning his career as a naval officer in 2001 with the Turkish Navy, Alanc contributed to numerous shipbuilding and acquisition programs such as fast attack craft, submarines, mine hunting vessels and finally served in the MILGEM Class Corvette Program of the Navy. He joined ARES Shipyard in 2014 as the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Configuration Manager, holding the office for 2 years with accomplishments of ILS and maintenance contracting programs. Since 2016, he has been contributing ARES as the Deputy General Manager, responsible for Business Development, Marketing and Sales, Integrated Logistics Support and Information Technologies Management.

 

Alanc holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Acquisition and Contract Management. He is a recent graduate of London Business School Senior Executive Programme.

Alanc will report directly to the ARES Board of Directors. Commenting on the appointment, Chairman, Kerim Kalafatoglu said, “We are thrilled to have Utku Alanc as our CEO.
