A vessel built by ARES Shipyard for Qatar’s Coast Guard has been awarded the title of ‘World’s Best Offshore Patrol Vessel’ by Baird Maritime.

Ares Shipyard’s 48m-long Ares 150 Hercules OPV, boasting a maximum speed of 37 knots and 1600 Nm extensive range, features electro-optic sensors, Aselsan's 30mm Muhafiz auto stabilised remote-controlled naval cannon and 2-off 12.7 mm Stamp auto-stabilised remote-controlled naval guns for conventional and asymmetric threats. In addition, 2-off Ares 24 Harpoon interceptor boats are located on the aft deck for special operations forces and their transitions.

Utku Alanc, General Manager of Turkey-based ARES Shipyard, said: “It’s been a great honour for ARES Shipyard and Turkish Shipbuilding Industry to witness Ares 150 Hercules OPV, the Flagship of Qatar Coast Guard to be awarded with the grand prize, especially by an international reputable organisation, where 75% of its readers are based in Europe and Asia, and 80% of them are solely from shipbuilding industry worldwide.”

Dozens of delegations from various countries recently visited Ares' four different production facilities in Antalya Free Zone to view the vessels and production technologies on site.

The Hercules series of fast patrol boats, designed and built by Ares for the Coast Guard Command of Qatar Ministry of Interior, attracted attention for their designs and capabilities, supported with ILS packages.
